Buffy the Vampire Slayer

Postby Fenrik » 20 May 2013, 22:58

It`s been 10 years today since the last second of Buffy aired on tv! 10 years! I feel so old!

And my God, what a great finale it was! (imagine how those special effects would look if they made it today!)

Let`s use this thread to just remember the best show ever made for tv.
What`s your favorite season? Episode? Scene? Character? Villain? Couple? Do you own the show on dvd?
Have you ever thought about that mind connection between Buffy and Faith that they NEVER even spoke of during the show?
Who did you hate, love, lust, etc. :D

Not a day goes by without me missing this show!

I loved Buffy but season 7 was a let down I was very dissapointed with the finale (especially compared to Angel) !! I loved spike aka James Marsters and I met him when I was 15 in leeds, I think season 3 was my favourite faith going from good slayer to Bad slayer

Like Charmed I felt Buffy started going downhill around Season 5.

Angel ending at that season was probaly for the best as I think that would have went downhill too. Buffy should have ended instead of switching networks like it did.

I know :p

BUT, that actually was a series finale. Joss Whedon still didn`t know if the series would get picked up by another tv station for the next season when they made the season 5 finale. So he made it like a season/series finale. If they didn`t get picked up then this was the end of it. Buffy dies. The End. Can you imagine if no one picked it up???

Would have ruined my life!! lol!

I loved season 7 though, my favorite after 3 and 5. Parts of it might be because of the return of Faith :P but I did really like the ending.
Did NOT like season 6...very boring! And to me, Buffy and Spike is soooo wrong! :puke: It had a great season finale though. Dark Willow!
And of course Once More With Feeling!

Oh, I`m starting to get a Buffy feever now! :D
Tried to watch it on Netflix, but the quality is even worse there than the dvds! It`s not even in 16:9!
At least season 4-7 is in widescreen on the dvds.

While some of it looks good in HD, they've unfortunately butchered a lot of the show by making it widescreen. In some scenes they've literally cropped people's faces out and in others they've expanded the shot, but you can now see cameramen and crew members in the shot!

Image

Image

There's also a scene from Prophecy Girl where The Master is meant to have disappeared but is still talking and Buffy doesn't know where he is. Yet thanks to their expanding the shot, you can see him in the shot.

Image

All of this was also done without Joss' permission. He tweeted last month;

Buffy was shot 4x3 cuz TVs were shaped that way. Widescreen Buffy is nonsense. (Firefly was shot wide - Fox cropped it.) #apsectratiowoes

All though it`s not the best crop job, I`m not too fuzzed about this cause I never notice these things anyway. lol!
All I want is the picture to be HD clear and in 16:9. Can`t even watch 4:3 on my tv. Looks too old fashion to me :p

Fair enough. It's just a shame as Fox are also converting X-Files to HD, but they're apparently using a different company than the one doing Buffy to do it and the results are a lot better.

I'll be giving these HD versions a miss, I'm happy to stick with watching Buffy the same way I have for the last 17 years, fuzziness and black edges included.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor Nicholas Brendon arrested in New York

Image

Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor Nicholas Brendon was arrested in Saratoga Springs, New York, on Wednesday night after allegedly choking his girlfriend during an argument, according to People.

Lieut. Bob Jillson of the Saratoga Springs Police Department told People that police were called to a hotel around 11:30 p.m. for a reported domestic disturbance.

“We got to the room and we found a 33-year-old female there by herself, and she reported that she had been in a domestic incident with Nick, and he had subsequently left before we got there. She did not have any physical injuries that we were aware of,” he told People. The woman told police that she had visited Brendon to give him some belongings and that when she tried to leave, he took her car keys and smashed her phone.

Brendon was arrested after police a few blocks from the hotel and charged with two counts of criminal mischief, one count of obstruction of breathing, and one count of robbery in the third degree, according to People. He spent the night in jail but has since been released.

This is just the latest of several legal run-ins for Brendon. To read more about the actor’s troubles, head over to People.

Did you mean Xander?

Cordelia appears in the spin-off 'Angel' series, its first season ran at the same time as Buffy Season 4. Not sure how it's explained because I haven't actually seen Angel S1 since it first aired in 1999!
