Aqua

Postby Sam Rogers-Bennett » 10 Mar 2008, 03:27

I just downloaded a greatest hits of theirs, don't know if it's official or not, but they were so childish, I remember liking them at the time but now looking back they were ridiculous, I don't get though how they could then make a song like Turn Back Time which I love, but the rest of their songs I've heard were stupid

I dont think they were as childish as some other groups...I listened to them again a month ago after many years (had a nostalgia nite) and I actually found their songs so much fun.I think they were all silly and fun but this doesnt mean that this music it's only about kids.I can totally see adults dancing with such songs at parties. The beats they use isnt childish at all,it's music u can listen to the clubs, most of their lyrics are kinda chilidish yeah but it's part of the fun I think. They produced great fun music and u can see they were great cause they made a song like "Turn back time" too (personally I find it a pure european pop masterpiece)

I still have their first album. And still...like it.

Never got the second one, heard the 30 seconds of it on iTunes, and it was too O_O in my mind.

Aqua were actually a really good pop band. I think Barbie Girl was a bit childish - but it got them noticed. I loved Turn Back Time

aqua was never about artistic integrity or credibility, they were about youthfulness, spunk and pure energy. They made tracks that made you want to get up, bust a move, and enjoy life. They produced classics.........to this day i still hear Doctor Jones in the clubs. They were essentially a form of candy coated, sugary escapism.

Are they going to release their GH?

Aqua were all about having fun and enjoying life to the fullest. I liked them and still do! Back in the 90's they had a different taste; different clothes, cool videos etc.

Aqua was fun. Nothing totally artistic, but purely fun.

I don't think they were particularly childish, their undertones were often very adult if you listen to them. I think they were a fabulous group that made some great music, especially within their 2nd album - their ballads are often stunning and full of emotion in my opinion. Turn Back Time, Be A Man, We Belong to the Sea, Aqaurius... They're all extremely well produced, meaningful ballads.

They held a press conference at the end of last year, stating that they will release a GH in 2008 with some new/unreleased songs included, and they will do a tour in 2008... I cannot wait! it'll be so much fun... That's what Aqua was all about...

Aqua fucking rules. Not only did they have some of the most melodic and FUN pop music ever, they had quite a few subdued, introspective songs too. Lene's voice is underrated--when she isn't doing that Barbie-squeak, it's a revelation.

Check out "Aquarius," "Turn Back Time," "Cuba Libre". Amazing!!!

I do think they're better with ballads, even if the music was a bit more serious I think they'd be great, cuz I did used to love them, I even bought Barbie Girl and their first album, I lost the album though lol, I might download the albums and see what they're like

Turn Back Time is absolutely stunning. And Doctor Jones was great too! I enjoyed Aqua.

I was still in primary school when they came out... and a lot of my class bought the album. At one stage I think they were considered more "cool" to my class than the Spice Girls :dizzy:

They aren't supposed to be taken seriously :death: (Except for Turn Back Time and Good Morning Sunshine)

They're just fun pop music, get over it.
