Ah she is too beautiful!

So a little update... Natalie's covers album is now expected next March (!!!), despite originally being scheduled for this summer. It will just be covers of songs by male artists. Natalie revealed this on Aussie breakfast TV last week, and also mentioned that the covers album will be followed by new material at some point, apparently she has been busy writing.

I will be over the moon if both albums come to fruition, but knowing Natalie, it's best to not run away with expectations.

Lastly, I saw her in 'Things We Do For Love' in April and she was actually fantastic. I was really surprised and pleased with her comedic skills, she was very very funny!

So Natalie's signed to Sony Masterworks, and we now have Daft Punk and Neil Young confirmed as artists she has covered.

Natalie had issues with record companies for some years. After her Greatest Hits was released, she created her own label Malabar and then signed to Island Records to release/distribute Come To Life. Despite collaborating with Chris Martin of Coldplay on a number of tracks, the album didn't get much attention or promotion, so didn't do well. A UK tour was planned, but dates were cancelled due to personal reasons. I believe Island then dropped her. She found doing music your own way was very hard work & decided to focus on acting once again, moved to LA for a couple of years. :)

It’s been almost six years since the release of Natalie’s last studio album – 2009’s criminally-ignored ‘Come To Life’ – but the singer has made no secret that she’s been hard at work on the new LP in recent years.

If you’ve been following the album’s creative trajectory, you’ll be aware that ‘Male’ is a covers set; a compilation that aims to put a fresh female twist on formerly male-vocaled tracks and it’s been produced by the legendary Billy Mann.

Lead single ‘Instant Crush’ is a Daft Punk number, given a new lick of paint and a different musical identity. The track will be delivered to media in Australia tomorrow ahead of its digital release on Friday April 24.

The album ‘Male’ will follow in July, with a global tour due to kick off towards the end of the year.

I hope the tracklist is good. Anastasia did the same with 'It's A Man's World' and half the tracklist sucked.

About time she released a new album! I also hope it's better than 'Come To Life' and she goes back to her roots, even if they are covers.

Im beside myself with excitement for this. The single is now available on US iTunes, I hope we get news on the UK and everywhere else soon.

The radio edit of 'Instant Crush' feels a bit punchier too. I hope it gets some support.

She doesn't age, does she. She looks gorgeous in the video. But not too fond of the song. I admire her stand as an artist, but I am pretty sure she is set to flop with this project. I hope she releases "I Will Follow You In The Dark" at some point in time cos the original version of the song is amazing.

I don't like the original, but Natalie's version of "Instant Crush" sounds really good in my opinion, and very her.

I love that she's doing a covers album. So very Mandy Moore a la "Coverage". Her voice is beautiful, and I'm glad she's making music again. <3

Sounds like my kind of album :p

I love Natalie's ballads!

I'm being patient and waiting for the UK release but I still think it's mad they've waited so long and for no apparent reason, no more promo lined up and no radio support. Not that it really matters, and this album does feel like a bonus but I did hope Natalie might have learnt some lessons from 'Come To Life's dreadful campaign.
