Re: Shakira (doesn't have a forum) "Sale el sol" video!

Postby fafafab » 10 Feb 2011, 20:27

so is she broke and she needs sponsors to make videos? and maybe that's why Loca was filmed by herself with a handycam in the streets of Barcelona? is economy really that bad? :D

I finally hear something Shakira would do in the past. I am sure it will do well in Latin America.

I fail to see how her being relevant or irrelevant makes the song good or bad. What does it have to do with how the music sounds?

Personally, I think this song is very nice, it's definitely the first song by her in years that sounds like something she'd have released in the 90s or early 00s, it's already #1 in the Spanish airplay charts. I also loved Loca, eventhough its video was embarrassingly bad, despite being filmed in a fantastic city.

I enjoy her latest Spanish album. Last year, I bought She Wolf. The album (Sale El Sol) doesn't sell very well here in The Netherlands. Neither did She Wolf.

I find Gypsy her best single in years. Too bad it wasn't released as the 2nd single. I bet her album would have sold far more.

when people like to bitch they don't really an excuse to do so, it's like they say, bitches gonna bitch

music wise I think gypsy was a callback to her old acoustic days, I particularly loved it when she performed live and included the harmonica

Talking about her album I'm really looking forward to her next release that is rumored (?)to be Rabiosa which I love with the added pleasure that she recorded it both in English and Spanish.
Btw I see she's so irrelevant that she has been topping the charts with all her latest singles.
Where have you been?

it's a nice song but for me, nothing spectacular... the chorus is too simple... even a cliché... so not for me... i was expecting more "no creo", "si te vas" type of songs...

Well she doesn't have a forum so why would I start bitching? with or without it in the topic title?

That song is only good because of Shaki!

Can't wait for her new single "Truth or Dare" - produced by RedOne! La la la la!

Took me a couple of listens but it is firmly lodged in my brain now. Though Rihanna owns it and her voice suits it way more than Shakira. I've said it before but Rihanna voice/vocals on record are probably the best around today, not interms of singing high notes or whatever, just they seem to translate and fit to whatever song or genre she is singing.

This takes me back to Shakira's original English-language sound (I don't think this would have sounded too out of place on 'Laundry Service') so I think she fits the song well. Rihanna is natural with the reggae/rock vibe too. Both are on good form in this song!

Come on what other artist around can dip into so many genres, do so many collabs with so many different artist and pull them off for the most part. Eminem, Drake and Coldplay aren't going to have Gaga or Britney on record with them (it would be a mess), but then Rihanna can equally make a Shakira, Guetta and Calvin Harris collab work too.

i hate when big artists collab on such weak/disappointing songs... like Britney & Madonna's MATM

Her second album is decent, but she really found herself (and better producers) with her third one.

I've seen some prehistoric TV clips of young Shakira performing some covers and they mispelled her name as "Chaquirra".

Magia is her first album, but she doesn't really acknowledge Magia & Peligro, so Pies descalzos is considered her first 'official' album.

As for calling her 'Chaquirra,' I once read somewhere that that was intentional because of racism or something crazy like that. If that were true, though, wouldn't they have spelled her name like that on the records too? It probably was just a spelling error.
