Yeah, unless she announces something imminently, she probably won't be able to make good on her goal to release the album while she's still 50. (her 51st birthday is August 28th)

Didn't she say last year she wanted to release a new song before she was 50? :p

Well, quality takes its time

If I remember correctly, she said she would release a new song WHILE she is still 50. And since her birthday is in mid-August, there's still a month to go.... :)

I reckon a new album will be released this fall and it'll be a high-priority release for Nashville Records. I for one cannot wait for a new studio collection, it's been sooooo long!!

It's the same old story almost every year since 2006.

I have to be honest, I've grown so bored of waiting for new Shania music that I've almost lost interest entirely. I would imagine the number of people eagerly anticipating her album is a mere fraction of what it was five or six years ago. I get that she has an internal battle to concern herself with over this, but if she leaves it much longer, there won't be any point in doing anything.

Her music has a place in my childhood about as strong as the Spice Girls, so I'll wait as long as it takes.

I truly think she is scared... We have to remember that she never did an album without Mutt before.. This is her first.. and her music was always very cliche and a quirky.. Which is not what Country music is at all.... I am so excited for the new album and hope she can deliver something that people will love, and eat up. Garth's last album did not do very well. and hes a country music legend just like she... I am interested to see how it all goes..

She HAS actually done an album without Mutt before. But she barely did any writing on her self-titled, so aside from Today Is Your Day, it's been about 25 years since she did a lot of writing without him (Limelight Sessions/Beginnings era).

^ Funnily enough, the best track on that album is the one she co-wrote.

Some rumors from 2006.

The titles :D

Shania Twain returns on November 20th with a three CD album. Four years since the release of her last studio LP, Twain releases the hotly anticipated 'So Happy (to be free)', which is the follow-up to 2002's 'Up' LP. The first single 'Don't Shoot The Messenger!' is expected to be released a week earlier, November 13th. Twain has recorded over 95 tracks for the triple Cd but only about 35 are expected to make the final cut. Tracks rumoured to be on the album include 'Baby Baby Baby!', 'Sweet Like Sugar (candy girl)', 'Girl From The Country', 'Bianca Bianca', 'Horse whispers' 'Darlin (why you make a fool of me)' 'Im so happy' 'Why Wait For The Weekend (To Be Wicked)!' 'Order Me Some Champagne!' 'Canyon of love' & 'Free (as a bird)'. A spokesperson claims this is "her most personal album to date, totally unique and crafted with love'

I remember the "Don't Shoot the Messenger!" title. I though it was brilliant, the others were just ridiculous though.

Yeah all of her most recent photos seem to be in the studio, at a music festival or mention making music. I think she's on track to release something later this year or early next.

^ I just hope she's keeping away from David Foster. I think he ruined the idea of TIYD completely. Turning it into a ballad when Shania's own guitar-version was more Jason Mrazish and upbeat.

iTunes US is doing a $5.99 special on some of her albums. There was an image on the store homepage and they reorganized her artist page. And, there's a single of Somewhere Over the Rainbow from her Deerhurst era (suggested by the artwork).

Hmmm.... it sounds like she's gearing up for a serious comeback.

She's been teasing us with hints about a new album, she's being awarded a lifetime achievement award and iTunes is doing a promotion of her backcatalogue. Interesting... :D

That's what I'm hoping for. I was actually REALLY dreaming of a 20th anniversary edition of The Woman In Me, since there's remixes and alternate versions of the songs that haven't been released digitally. Shame.

I would love that! The Christmas duet she recorded with Michael Bublé was great too, really love that one.
