Predictable choice.

With SOTME I went through the same stages as I went through 'Black Magic', only faster. I didn't like it on 1st, 2nd, 3rd and so on listens... The suddenly one day I enjoyed it and loved it since.

I think 'Touch' is a good choice, but it's the obviously predictable one that follows the same vibe of their recent releases. They're hardly one of my fav songs from the album, but I wished they were risky and edgy enough (like they used to) to pick something like 'Down & Dirty' or 'Power'. They probably wouldn't be huge radio hits, but video-wise they would bring something different to the table.

The acoustic version of Touch is great. The album version sucks.

I can't really see many hits from this album unless they possibly do something new with one of the tracks, mix/rapper etc.

Touch is really the only option they have as a follow up single. I presume they're performing it on the X Factor final this weekend?

That is crazy What Will The Neighbours Say sold so much only to get to no.6, really interested to know who and how much sold more that week.

I'm unsure about sales, but here's the top five from that week-

1. U2 - How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb
2. Robbie Williams - Greatest Hits
3. Eminem - Encore
4. Il Divo - Il Divo
5. Kylie Minogue - Ultimate Kylie

Girls Aloud were the highest new entry that week.

I can't believe that Chemistry sold over 80,000 just to get to #11!!!

*Late response* :dee: (I know this is off topic for the Little Mix thread, oops) -

Unfortunately sales were thin on the ground in the week What Will The Neighbours Say? charted, but here we go:

127,982 U2 (#1)
120,144 Robbie Williams (#2)
85,717 Girls Aloud (#6)
78,266 Lemar (#8)

Chemistry:

241,382 Eminem (#1)
132,632 Robbie Williams (#2)
124,647 Westlife (#3)
111,666 Take That (#4)
102,947 Madonna (#5)
101,157 Il Divo (#6)
94,946 James Blunt (#7)
91,035 Sugababes (#8)
83,980 Kelly Clarkson (#9)
82,193 Pussycat Dolls (#10)
81,962 Girls Aloud (#11) [231 copies behind PCD! :( ]

Meh.

They totally lost their edge and their essence, imo. Now they're just another sexy female act.

I really like the song. In fact, I love their style a lot!

I don't like their video. Not cause they're ugly but their sexyness sound too forced. Like most girlbands

Agreed. While they were set apart from acts like Fifth Harmony, now they just blend in. The new video isn't exactly original, nor is it really that empowering.

I must be old. I just spent my time being confused by the clothes. I don't mind slutty - I just don't understand the outfits at all!

WHAT is more empowering than sexy woman who owns it and carries herself with confidence. I don't get the slutshaming AT ALL.

I think they and Fifth Harmony are VERY empowering girlgroups.

I think we have past the point when men would dictate how women should behave right? Let them be sluts if they want to, it is their bodies and image. If they are in control and having fun, then that is empowering enough.

Oh. Where have I been?! I didn't know patriarchy is dead. Golly, is there world peace too?

I said I didn't find it the video empowering. There was no reference to their agency as women to make their own decisions, nor made any comment on their bodies, their dress, their lyrics. Whether you like it or not, the male gaze still exists and factors into how girl groups, and often times female artists, are marketed by male dominated record executives. That is something I am allowed to take into consideration when viewing the video. It is not a slight on the girls, but the video. I love Little Mix and as established artists I yearn to see them baulk at certain industry standards for female groups. As a feminist I think they have an opportunity to empower others in a way that isn't centred primarily around the objectification of their bodies :)

OK I wasnt attacking you directly, and I apologise if that is how it came across.

The video is objectifying, but if the girls agreed to it and have control over it, then I honestly don't see a problem with it. The objectification of bodys has a lot to say about it, specifically if the person in question is doing the objectifying. The sceptical in me wants to think that they are being controlled but the other half of me is going 'If they mean it, then fucking good on them'. It is not to my taste, but ultimately that is a bit irrelevant...

Jesy has been photoshopped in many parts of the video. :( The lines of the coloured walls bend and twist around her. At full speed it's not hugely noticeable but watching at a slower speed on YouTube reveals it.

The director denies it: https://twitter.com/iDirectorX/status/8 ... 8150315009

but...

Such a shame that it was deemed necessary to do that. :/
