it would help somewhat if she was even moderately likeable and that she had decent tunes x

Well I definetly think she has to work on being less in love with herself in interviews (there is confidence and then there is self indulgence she tends to fall into the latter) however you can't deny she has released some brilliant tunes such as Price Tag & Domino. She has stuff on the new album that could easily be up there with those two (Masterpiece & Said Too Much)

she is a very weak example of a pop star but unfortunately very representative of the current state of the industry x

I love the song, but the video does nothing for me. At this stage and after a lot of listens I think 'Said Too Much' could've been a better choice.

Btw how come this is the new single when Radio 1 have 'Sweet Talker' on their B-list?

I think I heard that the UK are getting Sweet Talker while the rest of Europe gets Masterpiece... not sure if that's still the case though!

She looks horrible at the minute! She actually looked better with the shaved head or really short blonde hair.

Hi guys!

Question... I just downloaded her 1st album and it's quite good... I listened to "Big White Room" and it's a live version... is it like that on the printed CD? I mean, it's kinda weird having a live song and even weirder when it's track #4...

Is it ok like that? Or there's a studio version in the álbum? I've looked everywhere and they all list it as "Live"

Yes, it's a live acoustic performance randomly placed as track 4.

Thank you for that!!

Silly question...

If it was her 1st record, how could she have a live song? I mean, audiences already knew her? :D

^Am I the only one that thinks 'Flashlight' sounds a lot like 'Towers' by Little Mix?

Her album was released in February 2011 but that was after the 2nd single ('Price Tag'). She released the first single ('Do It Like A Dude') in November 2010 so she was already showcasing songs from the album prior to its release and, for some reason, they included a live/acoustic version of 'Big White Room' instead of the studio version (that I don't know if it actually exists). I don't even know if it's taken from a real performance with fans or they made it up for the album with a random crowd.

In an interview Jessie J stated that she wrote her first song, "Big White Room", at the age of 17, about when she was in hospital, at 11 years old. A ward mate of hers, a little boy, died. She recalls waking up in the middle of the night and seeing him praying, and her mother explaining that he was having an operation the next day and was asking God to save him. "He died the next day so I said to my mum 'but God didn't save him'. I was so angry and it really confused me. I always wanted to write a song about the experience, but I knew I had to be of an age where it wasn't tacky or depressing and had a lightness to it." She prefers the song with just an acoustic guitar; stripped down and bare.

Having finally listened to Alive recently, I can say that it's her weakest album. It's My Party, Wild, Thunder, Sexy Lady, and Magnetic are amazing, though. And Flashlight to me sounded like Perfume the first time I heart it. Lo and behold, Flashlight is a Sia song, too.

Wow she thinks very highly of herself! :Dizzy:

Didn't she win that Brit's Choice Award thing? They make out she has been really insulted when actually the Brits have nominated her 3 times and she has won once...

TBH I kinda get where she is coming from. She's had a lot of success here but it's probably really bittersweet knowing that she's not respected and so easily looked over in her home Country.
