I don't think Sarah can be compared to the solo Spice Girls. All 5 of them hit the ground running with their solo careers; all released at least one single within 5 years of 'Wannabe' coming out. 'Threads' comes nearly 13 years after GA debuted, 6 years after the GA hiatus started and 2-3 years since the reunion/split. Imagine if one of the Spice Girls hadn't released a solo single until 2009?

Red Boy wrote:^ Do you really want to compare them? Melanie C has sold millions of singles & albums worldwide. She also achieved a Top 15 hit single 15 years after releasing her smash hit debut single. Now what about Sarah / Nicola / Nadine / Kim...? ;)

lol is Mel still selling millions these days? How did This Time/The Sea etc do?
They did far better, that's for sure.
Mariah, Kylie & Janet don't sell much these days either. Does it mean their current situation is similar to that of Sarah? Does it take away their past achievements? Are they in the same boat? No, no & no.

You can't compare Mel C in 1999 to Sarah 2015. The industry has completly changed and music doesn't sell what it used to sell so hardly a fair comparison
Then compare only chart positions, not sales. :hunny:

Oh dear.

Not a good start to a solo career, specially when she had a few spots of decent promo.

Tho Nadine and Kimberley have also had singles that failed to chart as well.

Solo Girls Aloud songs that missed the Top 20:

#26 - 'Insatiable' by Nadine Coyle
#27 - 'Beat Of My Drum' by Nicola Roberts
#40 - 'Lucky Day' by Nicola Roberts
#70 - 'Only Human' by Cheryl (and this position was achieved when it was an Instant Grat track from the album... in the week it was released as a single it could only re-enter at #107).
#111 - 'Yo-Yo' by Nicola Roberts
#196 - 'The Road' by Kimberley Walsh (and Alistair Griffin)
Not Top 200 - 'One Day I'll Fly Away' by Kimberley Walsh
Not Top 200 - 'One Vision' by Kimberley Walsh (and Alfie Boe)
Not Top 200 - 'Sweetest High' by Nadine Coyle
Not Top 200 - 'Threads' by Sarah Harding

Don't think I've missed anything? Every Cheryl single bar 'Only Human' has managed Top 20, and Kimberley's 'Like U Like' with Aggro Santos inexplicably managed to chart as high as #8. Overall apart from Cheryl it's been a bit bleak.... but at least Kimberley, Nadine & Nicola managed to have at least one single chart within the Top 40. Poor Sarah. :(

Hate to be the one to break it to you... #26 and 27 are both less that 40!!! Has your whole life got more or less meaning now

ROFL

Not totally sure that Warners will see the humour in a lead single behaving this way. Esp from a new signing

No, she's on her own label so she's wasting her own money on this project.

How Mel C of her.

why bother interviewing a chart icon when you are just going to tell them the answers to your own questions... Image x

Who is that woman? she seriously needs to learn how to interview people. It requires actually letting the person get a word in edgeways.

Penny Lancaster, Rod Stewart's wife! Definitely a terrible interviewer, literally just talking at Sarah & raising all these uncomfortable things in quick succession. :x It made me feel bad for Sarah.

So what was it like when your single flopped knowing that your father had abused you leaving you psychologically damaged and dependent on alcohol? (: x
