Predictably 'Wannabe' is miles ahead of their other singles. It's very impressive that it has over 50m plays though!

I think the Spice Girls are let down by not having the Greatest Hits on Spotify as an album - they'd probably get more concentrated plays for their singles if they did. 'Goodbye' is probably less visible than almost all of their other singles because it's the last track on 'Forever'.

'Never Give Up On The Good Times' has been played more times than a couple of their singles. Definitely the single that got away!

Disappointing to see 'Denying' as the least listened to track from 'Spiceworld', but not shocked. I suppose 'Get Down With Me' benefits from being track 5 on 'Forever', but nevertheless it's surprising to see it a little ahead of 'If You Wanna Have Some Fun'.

'Take Me Home' being their least listened to B Side is criminal! :(

Impressive how the Forever singles albums tracks are all on the last positions on their respective lists. The general public definitely has no clue about their r&b 3rd album. I guess for most people outside of the UK they disbanded when Geri left.

Btw, just to add some relevant over-the-million streams:

18,043,479 - When You're Gone (On A Day Like Today + The Best Of Me) :dee:
4,955,447 - I Turn To You (Album Version + Radio Mix + Radio Mix from album)
2,956,136 - It's Raining Men
2,741,612 - Loving You
2,180,856 - Never Be The Same Again (Album Version + Single Mix)
1,001,870 - First Day Of My Life

The rest of their solo streams are quite sad.

^My Spotify didn't show it on Melanie's Top10. How do you see other songs' streams that don't appear on the artists' Top10?

Very interesting thanks. Headlines and LLLTW are in the same last two places just as their videos are on youtube.

Goodbye is certainly the biggest shocker given how massive a hit it was back in the day but like its youtube views hasn't retained its popularity which is sad as its a beautiful song.

Weird. It's her 9th most popular song at the moment.

In order to see a songs streams, regardless if it's in the Top10 or not, simply place the cursor over the popularity bars.

Interesting! God look at the difference from Wannabe to the rest of them :dizzy: I never really understand the popularity of Wannabe... It's really quite a terrible song :D

Thanks!

It seems FDOML isn't available on Spotify in Spain, that's why it wouldn't show up.

I just searched for the When You're Gone streams and they're really good.

It is not terrible it is of its era, which is why people love it, takes them back to summer '96.

With the new rules does this mean that 'Say You'll Be There has hit 1,000,000 'sales'

Have to say though even though its fifth in popularity I thought Stop would be the third most streamed after Wannabe and SUYL.

2 Become 1 I personally don't rate (used to love it but I now need to really be in the mood for it if I want to listen to it) and i've always thought of SYBT as one of the 'forgotten' singles.

^The streams don't count as 1 stream = 1 sale. It's 100 streams = 1 sale. So that would be like 60k for SYBT. But the UK charts started counting streams less than a year ago (I think), so it won't be 60k extra sales, but way lower than that.

Hopefully it will reach the million mark next year so the "3rd million seller" announcement coincides with the anniversary.

Maybe it's time for another 'Stop To The Top' campaign, this time asking fans all around the UK to play the 'Stop' song nonstop during a whole week. :D :D :dee:

How are the Forever fans going to spin this one haha. I've always said no one (at least in America) remembers they had a 3rd album. For the 20th anniversary they really need to expand their back catalogue. Most people in the U.S. think they only have 20 songs. A anthology set with unreleased songs could do wonders for their legacy.

Exactly. They'd be lucky if out of those streams, 1k counted as sales for the UK.

Something is weird in Spotify lately.

I've done a playlist that i've added all the singles of Melanie C.

- First Day Of My Life - Was avaliable, I always saw the Brazilian Special Edition of Beautiful Intentions. Now it's unavaliable to me and its the uk regular edition now.

- I know him so well - Was avaliable and it had 211.708 streams. Now it appears as unavaliable, and a new single came out (without the (feat. Emma Bunton) tag, "Emma Bunton" now appears as an artist) and it has less than 1000 streams (it's the version that has 20 sec of silence at the beggining).

- Greatest Hits of Spice Girls - Used to appears, now it's unavaliable.

"The Forever fans", or at least most of them, are well aware that the album didn't do too well. That, however, has nothing to do with quality. If that was the case "Wannabe" wouldn't be their best selling single.

Quality has everything to do with it. Most of Forever is shit and the general public agrees. When people think of the Spice Girls they think of the songs from Spice & Spiceworld. Even the girls themselves pretend the Forever songs don't exist besides Holler, Goodbye, & LLLTW.

BTW what is wrong with Wannabe? It's arguably one of the best pop songs ever written. Yeah, it's cheesy, but so what.

I suppose quality could be subjective, but the way I see it is that Wannabe and the songs from the first and second albums are far more imaginative and interesting production-wise which makes for a better quality product than the bland and generic sounds from Forever.

LOL do you even read what you wrote?

Just because you think it is shit, do you think you speak for the nation? Or the world? You clearly don't. And the pity of it all is that you seem to think that just because it is not well remembered that it doesnt have 'quality'. If you think that, then you are lacking a big factor in your equation: context. The album was given no chance to do well, mainly due to their own lack of interest and the backlash that the media had ready for them.

This has nothing to do with quality.

Oh, yeah and Wannabe being of quality? It is so cheesy it is almost embarrassing.

As a musical relevant composition, 'Wannabe' is crap. As a pop song, it's a masterpiece.

The best music, fashion, movies, etc. stand the test of time and become influential to future generations. The cream always rises to the top. When people look back at the 90's the Spice Girls will be remembered for their songs from Spice and Spiceworld, not Forever. Most people these days already don't remember Forever. Their time as a 4 piece will be a footnote when looking back at their legacy.

Every artist can always do more promotion for a album in order for it to sell better. Hell, even Adele could have done more to promote 21. She could have filmed music videos for Set Fire To The Rain and Rumor Has It. She also had the chance to release a 5th single, but didn't. Lack of promotion is a lame excuse to try and justify low sales. Sure, the girls should have promoted more, but they choose not to. It's their own fault the era wasn't very memorable.
