Help w/ Mi Chico Latino 3:05 UK Promo CD-R Version

Postby Agent_Spice » 29 Jul 2017, 08:21

I'm trying to organize my collection and I was hoping I could please request some help with the 3:05 UK Promo CD-R version of Mi Chico Latino.

The 3:05 version appeared on some promotional UK CD-Rs of Schizophonic and a Japanese promo cassette (the released album version is 3:16). Another version (3:07) appeared on the US Promo Sampler of Schizophonic, but since I don't have any other Schizophonic promos, I can't compare them.

The US Promo Version cuts out the waves crashing intro and ends about 3:03. I would bet that the 3:05 and 3:07 versions are the same, but this wouldn't be the first time that two promos contain different versions. Does anybody know if there are any differences between the 3:05 and 3:07 versions?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

3:05 and 3:07 versions are certainly the same !!
It often happens to have 2 or 3 seconds of difference between different CD editions, but it is exactly the same.

Thanks for taking the time to reply and the comprehensive list of MCL remixes from UltimateSpice. I had a feeling that it was probably more likely than not that the 3:05 and 3:07 versions would be the same. I always like to see if there's anyone who owns the actual item just to confirm it though - just in case.

For example, the Groove Chronicles Radio Edit of What I Am has a running time of 3:28 on the Promo CD-R ( https://www.discogs.com/Tin-Tin-Out-Fea ... se/1548167 ) and the Groove Chronical Remix (their typo, not mine) on the Now Dance Compilation ( https://www.discogs.com/Various-Now-Dan ... se/3374039 ) has a running time of 3:27. VC which released What I Am is a sub-company of Virgin and Virgin released that Now compilation. You would think that since there's only a difference of 1 second and they're both under the same label that both versions would be identical. Thanks to gaga, I learned that they are actually two different mixes.

You are correct that about 99% of the time that when there's a discrepancy of only a few seconds (and even sometimes up to 10 seconds), that they're exactly the same with just silence in the beginning and end though. I usually learn the hard way buying compilations that have the time lengths wrong and there's only 1-5 seconds difference. I just like to be absolutely confident before I cross something off my want list and add it to my list - which is why I'm still working on my collection even though it's extremely small in comparison to yours. Thank you for answering!

Sometimes compilations put an edit of the long mix and not the real radio edit. When the running time is quite the same, the only way to know is to get the two versions. Sometimes it's a edit that fades out, just to fit the compilation.

Anyway, all the Mi Chico Latino clocking around 3:05 are the same without the waves crashing.

Thank you for taking the time to answer and confirm that the Mi Chico Latino versions around 3:05 the same (without the waves crashing). I had a feeling that was probably the case since you didn't have a different version listed in your mixography for the 3:07 version.

It's a shame (and lazy) that compilations would take the extra step to create a new edit - badly when there's already one out and on their own label. At least the casual fan gets to hear a new version that wasn't commercially released.
